Stlth Cat™ - 1st Stage Catalyzed
Muffler System

This ‘State Of The Art’ system incorporates a high flow performance catalyst to reduce the engine particle matter (PM, soot) by 25%. The catalyst consists of a stainless steel knitted cartridge that is impervious to extreme vibration, impact water or heat. Because of its design, the catalyst also acts as heat sync and a primary sound deadening cartridge reducing the engine pitch. (Recent acoustic tests produced readings of 76 dBA-significantly lower than the normal requirement of 100 dBA).

The Stlth Cat™ is attached to the vehicle using a quick disconnect by means of a primary flange which is bolted directly to the engine exhaust transition area on the outer hull. This V-band clamp flange system enables the muffler to be utilized both with and without the new composite armour being incorporated by the US Marines on their LAV class of vehicles.
The design of the Stlth Cat™ incorporates an internal dynamic venturi system, which continuously vents the engine compartment of fumes and excess heat mixing into the primary exhaust stream. This venturi creates a dilution of the initial exhaust gas as a result reducing its temperature and further reducing the engines visible smoke (soot emissions). The Stlth Cat™ also incorporates a secondary external venturi system and light weight aluminium directional diffuser. This device reduces the exhaust gas temperature and visible smoke further while increasing the convection effect, cooling the outer skin of the muffler beneath the shell and the Scat-IR-Shield™. The diffuser also acts as a disconnection between the muffler and the directional baffle redirecting the exhaust flow towards the ground. The disconnection between the Stlth Cat™ and the diffuser also helps to eliminate water entering the Stlth Cat™ during amphibious operations.

RefractEx™ - 2nd Stage Heat/IR
Redirecting System

An important facet applied to the shell of the Stlth Cat™ is the application of a rugged, RefractEx™ slip cover. This custom fitted slip cover is manufactured from a unique combination of proprietary water/chemical proof, extreme heat and IR redirecting materials. The RefractEx™ works to repel the heat and IR energy, created by the engines exhaust, back to its source and away from the Scat-IR-Shield™.

Scat-IR-Shield™ - 3rd Stage Heat/IR Reduction System

The finished system incorporates a comprehensive Heat and IR reduction system branded Scat-IR-Shield™. The low profile unit is designed to cover the muffler system and seal directly to the outer hull of the vehicle, with or without composite armour, with a high temperature silicone seal. The Scat-IR-Shield™ is made of light weight aircraft grade aluminium lined with the latest proprietary Heat/IR reflective/insulation materials applied to its internal surface area. These space age materials redirect the heat and infrared energy generated by the muffler back towards its source, allowing the secondary venturi to pull the hot air into the exhaust stream. By doing so, the system reduces the transfer (conduction) of heat energy to the outer shell of the Scat-IR-Shield™. The outer surface of the Scat-IR-Shield™ is coated with a new heat retarding non-reflective coating to further blend its profile and slip resistance. The complete installed system remains cool to the touch without the possibility of burn injury to the soldier and minimizes the risk of slipping while transiting by foot from the vehicle.

The US Marines are currently being supplied with 1000 of these new state of the art systems to fit their LAV family of vehicles.
